This exhibition is taking place from 24 October 2013 to 23 March 2014 at the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebandengo in Turin (via Modane 16, I-10141) Among the 19 artists shown here there is no one who could be seen as at home in the textile arts. We only have presented Goshka Macuga and Pae White once to our readers because they were working with industrial-produced Jacquard tapestries, the so-called „fake tapestries“. Fakes seem to be in fashion these days. Soft Pictures is presenting itself as a group exhibition with the aim of showing the use of the textile median in contemporary art. The curator, Irene Calderoni, is expressing her views as follow: „Today, artists are going back to textile and its multiple historic, political, social and symbolic meanings – a rich semantic texture, which unfolds through the exhibition.“
